Pasteur Network and Climate Action Accelerator Partner to Strengthen Climate Action and Decarbonisation
The Pasteur Network and the Climate Action Accelerator have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a multi-year strategic collaboration focused on climate action and decarbonisation in the global health and research sectors.
This partnership comes in response to the growing impact of climate change on health systems and communities worldwide. It will support the development of low-carbon and climate-resilient models for health and research organisations, while promoting the adoption of ambitious, science-based emissions-reduction targets across the Pasteur Network and the wider global health ecosystem.
Through this collaboration, the Pasteur Network will participate as a collaborator in the Climate Action Accelerator’s initiative, contributing to its three pillars: empowerment, championing climate leadership, and engagement in a community of practice.
The Network will encourage its members to engage in decarbonisation pathways, adopt resilient operational models, and share tools, experience, and lessons learned related to environmental responsibility.
The Climate Action Accelerator will support these efforts through technical and strategic expertise, access to shared resources and peer learning, and the development of programmes designed to help health and research organisations accelerate their transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient future.
Initial focus areas
- Promoting sustainable and resilient practices across the Pasteur Network, including climate-responsible operations.
- Supporting readiness for emerging climate and environmental WHO/GMP requirements, particularly in vaccine manufacturing.
- Sharing experience and influencing peers through joint events, workshops, and community engagement.
- Strengthening internal environmental commitments within the Pasteur Network team, including responsible travel, green events, and digital practices.
Through this collaboration, the Pasteur Network and the Climate Action Accelerator aim to mobilise actors across the global health and research ecosystem, contribute to collective climate ambition, and support health institutions in playing an active role in addressing the climate crisis while strengthening the long-term resilience of their activities.
