Catalyzing Global Collaboration to Strengthen Clinical Trials Systems
A side event of the 79th World Health Assembly bringing together global health stakeholders to advance equitable and sustainable clinical trial capacity.
As emphasized by the World Health Organization and Member States in the WHA75.8 resolution, strengthening clinical trials systems is essential to improving the quality, relevance, and equity of global health research.
Despite bearing a significant share of the global disease burden, low- and middle-income countries host only a small fraction of clinical trials. Against this backdrop, the event aims to bring together global health stakeholders to exchange evidence and practical solutions, strengthen partnerships, and mobilize coordinated action to accelerate systemic change in the global clinical trials ecosystem.
This event is hosted by the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the Pasteur Network. It invites health officials, policymakers, regulators, and researchers to engage in a high-level dialogue focused on progress, challenges, and collaboration in strengthening clinical trial systems.
Key points
- Highlighting progress, challenges, and best practices in the clinical trial landscape of LMICs
- Advancing innovative approaches to strengthen regulation, governance, and clinical research infrastructure
- Sharing country experiences and key lessons in building sustainable clinical trial systems
- Exploring partnerships and financing to expand research capacity
- Fostering alignment and collaboration among donors, governments, and research institutions
